If you fail to plan...

Our Mid Year evaluation sparked a flurry of meetings discussing the importance of active participation with the e-portfolio among all CTE staff members. This month has truly been March Madness!!! We have met every week to develop a plan of action that involves several specialized training sessions for CTE and students in the senior class.

How will the seniors know what a portfolio delivery looks like? We carefully selected a group of seniors whose portfolio is considered outstanding to make up an Apple Core Team. These student teams will help demonstrate portfolio delivery. We held a Apple Core Team meeting to congratulate these students and let them know they will be the "go to" team members for specific CTE Programs. Tucker made tee shirt with an eportfolio 1.0 logo for us and they are spectacular!

We have met and had several spirited discussions about the importance of CTE Teachers being more invested in the process of the e-portfolio. The questions of how to make that happen lead us to the need for training CTE Teachers. We also know that not everyone is in the same place we are in terms of skill sets and interest in this endeavor. How we are going to make sure the CTE teachers have the proper training to assist students in development of the portfolio? Easy... train them in after school inservices!

We organized back to back training sessions first with Apple Core student presentations 4th block facilitated by Lew and I then CTE training sessions after school on the same days. The PLC divided up into teams of two and took 4 CTE programs under our wings. Each session covered Key Skills (2 main task demos in each) The CTE teachers used their wetpaint sites to demonstrate key skill competencies. The small groups helped provide each CTE Teacher with individual attention from the PLC Team.

We could not do all of this without the incredible support we receive from our Administrators!!! Thank you Rich for all the time you spent helping us get these trainings in place.

We are confident these trainings gave the CTE teachers insight to the intricacies of "How To" in wetpaint and motivated a few seniors who were behind in their e-portfolio development.
